Week 6 Project 1B Exercise 1
LECTURES
During week 6 lecture, Mr. Fauzi went through the 7 principles of poster design which is :- Emphasis, Balance and alignment, contrast, repetition, proportion, movement, white space.
- Emphasis :- Every poster should have a focal point or an element that is the main focus.
- Balance and Alignment :- When it comes to adding elements in your design, you must focus on adding both small and big elements and they must be placed evenly across the page to create balance.
- Contrast :- Refers to adding elements that stand out from each other, which helps make a design pop
- Repetition :- Repetition helps in unifying and strengthening the elements in a design
- Proportion :- proportion refers to the visual size and weight of parts in composition and their correlation
- Movement :- Movement is controlling the elements in a composition so that the eye is led to move from one to the next and the information is properly communicated to your audience
- White Space :- Refers to the empty space around the elements in your composition. It helps give the composition more room to breathe.
CLASS SUMMARY
Week 6, Mr. Fauzi briefed us on this week's practical. We are given several black and white photos and we are required to recolor them using the features in adobe photoshop. He also gave us a demo to help us get started on the practical. We have 2 exercises for this practical and required to submit it on 1st November. He also reviewed the students week 5 practical and gave feedback.
WEEK 6 PROJECT 1B EXERCISE 1
For week 6 we are required to do 2 exercises where we are
given a black and white image and have to recolor it. We are
also given tutorial videos as well as instructions in the
PPT to follow along to guide us in doing the exercises. For
exercise 1, we have to recolor a black and white picture of an
old man. In exercise 2, it is divided into 2 parts. For part 1
we have to recolor the black and white picture of a woman,
with the help of the tutorial video. In part 2, we are
required to pick a black and white picture from the google
drive link provided and attempt to recolor it.

REFLECTIONS
This was an interesting exercise. I was able to learn how to recolor black and white images in 2 ways.
I learned about the quick selection tool feature and it really helps speeding up the selection process. The select and mask tool is very helpful in refining your mask. In it I mainly used the brush tool and the refine edge brush tool. I also learned more about the fill color adjustment layer. I also got more familiar with using blend modes. This exercise also taught me some more shortcut keys, to streamline my process. The tutorial video I followed along was very informative and beginner friendly. The second part of exercise 2 helped me better absorb the information I learned this week. Overall I find this assignment very educational.
